Summer Break

Well, I had a one week summer break. I drove all the way to Memphis, TN where my parents live. I ran around town with my mom and my brother for the five days that I was there. I toured Beale St., saw the new Superman movie, and the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I saw very pleased with both movies. I really enjoyed Superman and I'm glad they stayed true to the character. However, my mom missed Superman's bright red cape from the old movies.
I borrowed my Dad's camera to video tape footage for an upcoming class project. I had to decide to do a commercial, documentary, or a music video. A commercial sounded boring, and a music video too complicated. I felt I could get the most out of a Documentary. Because my family lives in Memphis, I am familiar with Beale Street. Memphis claims the title of the birthplace of rock & roll and the blues. Beale is where they say it all started. Everyone that I have talked to at Full Sail doesn't know where Beale Street is or what its significance is. I was especially surprised when none of the Recording Arts Students were familiar Beale Street. So, I spent a day of my vacation filming on Beale with a little Sony video camera. I got footage of kids doing flips in the street for tips, a trumpet player, horse drawn carriages, and an Elvis impersonator. Hopefully, my footage will make for an entertaining and educational project.
